Max’s piece Verse I, has just been released on the Dutch label, AEMC Records, on the compilation, One Minute Compositions. https://aemc.bandcamp.com/track/verse-i

He has also recently completed two short miniatures for solo violin, to accompany two poems of Aileen Ballantyne, Haud tae Me, and The Wishing Gate, which will be digitally presented as part of StAzna, Scotland’s International Poetry Festival, March 2021. This is part of a larger set of poems Aileen is presenting from her recent poetry collection, ‘Taking Flight’ (Luath Press).

In August 2020, Max was fortunate enough to join the Music Department at the University of New Haven as an Adjunct Instructor, where he teaches courses in Western Art Music, and World Music.

He recently completed an M.A. at Wesleyan University, where he studied composition and electronic music with Paula Matthusen, Tyshawn Sorey, and Ron Kuivila, organ with Ron Ebrecht and Alcee Chriss, information with the sculptor Jeffrey Schiff, and Javanese Gamelan with I.M. Harjito, Sumarsam, and Al Suwardi. His thesis, Toward Expansion: Composing Time and Scale, explored ideas of extended temporality,  enlarged scale, and increased scope.
